On May 9, 2026, MAHM Consulting Group Ltd, hosted the inaugural edition of The Barefoot Coach, a one-day Human Capital Transformation Convening that brought together leaders from the public and private sectors in Douala, Cameroon.
It was a conversation Africa’s institutions have been waiting for.
Built around MAHM’s proprietary Human Currency Framework™, The Barefoot Coach created a space for leaders to engage with the question that defines institutional performance in this era: are we truly building the human systems our organisations need to thrive?
The Focus
Building institutional capability through the six capitals of the Human Currency Framework™ and translating that understanding into concrete organisational action.
Who Was in the Room
- Chief Executive Officers of SMEs
- General Managers
- Chief Project Managers
- HR Directors
- Entrepreneurs
- Senior executives engaged in governance and strategy
The Experience
Delegates moved through an intensive one-day journey spanning institutional diagnosis, the Subconscious Leader, the leader as coach, peer learning, and strategic reflection. Participants left with diagnostic insights, practical frameworks, and a sharper understanding of what it takes to build human capital excellence inside African institutions.
“I appreciate how interactive and human the experience felt” Delegate, The Barefoot Coach 2026
“I did not know how much I needed the insights from this convening until I found myself in that room. I will not miss out on the next. This was extremely rich and transformational”
Delegate, The Barefoot Coach 2026
One of our speakers ,with over two decades in the corporate world, noted it was the first time they had attended a leadership development programme that addressed the Subconscious Leader with such depth and practicality.
Why It Matters
Amid accelerating disruption and evolving technology, Africa’s organisations face both unprecedented opportunity and unprecedented risk. The institutions that will lead will not be those with the most technology, they will be those that have mastered Human Currency: organisations that develop leadership with intention, align culture to strategy, build execution discipline, and govern with accountability.
The Barefoot Coach was designed to equip leaders to build exactly that.
Impact
The inaugural edition confirmed what MAHM has long held to be true; Africa doesn’t lack talent. It lacks systems that convert talent into sustainable performance.
The Barefoot Coach is building those systems, one convening at a time.
